Fortaleza street party
Fortaleza’s Carnival attracts real crowds of partygoers, what also happens in many other cities located in the Northeast of Brazil. With its so-called “Carnaval Circuit”, the city offers an extensive schedule filled with music performances by famous Brazilian artists, called “trios elétricos” (music floats) and numerous street parties.
Traditionally, the main spots where trios and street parties take place are: Iracema Beach, Domingos Olímpio Avenue, Mocinha Bar, Ferreira Square, Pinhões Market and, recently, Aerolândia Market.
The festivities usually start a month before the official opening, with pre-carnival weekend parties that serve as some sort of “carnival warm up” with shows and street parties happening everywhere – samba and regional music are the genres played at these parties.
Fortaleza is currently the fourth Brazilian destination to celebrate carnival, behind Recife, Salvador and Rio de Janeiro.
Fortal is a Fortaleza street party held every July in Fortaleza, during mid-year holidays and it started in 1992. It is a 4-day party that brings together tourists from Brazil and from all over the world.
Fortal is a Music Festival where popular Brazilian artists perform for about 500 thousand people. For twelve years, thee event took place at Beira Mar Avenue, but for safety reasons, in 2005 it was relocated to an indoors venue called “Cidade Fortal”.
At “Cidade Fortal”, the festivalgoers have safe and comfortable options to enjoy the party: Cabins, Vip Area, Standing Area and Stands. Fortal is great option for enthusiastic people who love an off-season carnival party.
